Information for Relatives

Visitors Guideline

  • Visiting Times are from 12:30 to 19:30
  • During busy periods due to handover, ward rounds and patient procedures you may be asked to wait in the waiting room until you are called in.
  • On arrival, please use the intercom to speak to the ward clerk or staff and when answered please wait in the waiting room until you are called in.
  • Please DO NOT ENTER the unit without first speaking with a NICU staff member or without prior authorization.
  • This visitor’s room is primarily designated for Neuro ICU visitors, allowing them priority access. If you are visiting someone from another unit and find this room full, we kindly request that you give priority to NICU families.
  • Only two (2) visitors are allowed by the bedside at any time, and we kindly ask a maximum of two visitors more in the waiting room at the same time per patient.
  • To reduce the risk of infection, please clean your hand with alcohol gel on entering and on exiting. Please wear an apron at the bedside if you are asked to and remove it when leaving the bed.
  • To protect confidentiality and privacy during ward round, handover and certain procedures we will ask you to wait in the waiting room. Please do not wait directly outside the ICU door as it may be needed for patient movement, bringing in medical equipment or other items.
  • In case of emergency on the ICU you will be asked to wait in the waiting room, and you will be updated as soon as possible.
  • Children under 12 should not visit the ICU but special circumstances can be discussed with the staff.
  • Please do not bring food and drinks into the ICU for your consumption, if you have brought any for your relative, kindly inform the attending nurse.
  • If you need a translator or Chaplaincy support, please let the ICU team know.
  • Please be respectful of other patients, visitors and staff. VERBAL OR PHYSICAL ABUSE TOWARDS ANYONE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
